Open for Business!

We did it!  Our booth/pop up shop at Mulford Gardens Community Festival on Saturday, Oct 12 was a success. The morning was foggy and the day cold, especially under the shade of the massive pine trees we were setup near. The experience overall was a great one though and gave us an opportunity to do a little market research and meet with potential customers. We passed out plenty of business cards and had a few good sales.

There were some good vendors to check out as well, including one set up right next to us by Michele Johnson. She wasn't selling, but had a nice display booth sharing a bit with the public on the old craft of paper quilling - which apparently was almost extinct 10 years ago, but is making a bit of a comeback. The examples of her work were very interesting and she was a great neighbor.

Today is another day and we'll move forward on some of the ideas we got from participating in the fair. To our new customers a Big Thank You, and a very special thanks to one part of The Artful Aloe, Luchia and my great pal Corina for joining us and even bringing us some winter wear to keep us warm and then sitting tight to the end in the freezing cold.  Looking forward to the next time.

Don't remember how I came across this - either way I LOVE it. I'm not an artist or trying to become one, but this is one very inspiring piece by artist Colleen Butters. It made me think of a great picture book (The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds) my son got as a gift when he was 3 years old. Btw - he loved that book and carried it with him everywhere for months. This is a great message that can translate to so much that you may try in life. The first frame is below, but follow the link for the rest, and the link for a video on the book The Dot.

Freaky Flora

Check out the October issue of Sunset for a  fun feature in the garden section. The great lighting and interesting containers the arrangements are finished in really play up these oh so unique flora. Love, love, love the four piece setting with the sticks of fire.
